NLHAD requests govt to make license mandatory for those dealing in real estate

KATHMANDU, April 8: The real estate entrepreneurs have demanded from the government to make arrangements for dealing in real estate only after taking a license.

On Friday, the Nepal Land and Housing Developers' Association (NLHAD) held a press conference in Kathmandu and made such a demand. In a press conference, the president of the federation, Bhesraj Lohani, demanded from the government to arrange for foreigners to be able to buy apartments in Nepal.

Lohani said that land-use laws should be effectively implemented to make arrangements for allocating, and limited exemptions should be given for the operation of projects related to systematic settlement and urbanization. He also demanded the participation of the private sector in land pooling and house pooling projects as well as urban development projects. He said that the people who thought that investing in real estate business caused problems in the economy now have the opinion that real estate business should be managed.

Under the new leadership of the federation, Deepak Kumar Malhotra is the senior vice president, Rajkumar Rai and Bidur Dhamala are the vice presidents, Bishnu Prasad Ghimire is the general secretary, Ramsundar B.K. is the secretary and Rohkumar Bhoydyo has been elected as treasurer.

Similarly, Ghanshyam Pokharel from Koshi province, Arunstom Tripathi from Gandaki province, Baburam Adhikari from Bagmati province, Dasharath Poudel from Lumbini province and Shridhar Mahara Chhetri and Purnima Rajbhandari from open members have been elected unopposed. The term of the Federation will be two years.
