Association organized a press conference on Sunday in Pokhara and informed that altogether nine teams, including two foreign teams, will participate in the tournament.[break]
Eastern Railway from Kolkata, India and Young Sports Club from Phuncholing, Bhutan have confirmed to visit Pokhara.
Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Gyanu Baba Higher Secondary, Fishtail Higher Secondary, Workers Martyrs Memorial Club of Pokhara, Balodaya Higher Secondary and Tops Higher Secondary are participating in the tournament.
The tournament is sponsored by Wai-Wai noodles and co-sponsored by Shin Ramyon noodles.
The winning team will receive Rs 111,111 and runner-up will get Rs 50,555.
According to the tournament coordinator Chhyam Bahadur Thapa, there are cash prizes for the second runner-up team and the fourth while there are special prizes for individual performances.
Excelsior in both finals
The Excelsior reached the finals of both the senior and junior categories of the Fourth Whitefield Valley-wide Inter School Boys´ Basketball Tournament.
Excelsior defeated Siddhartha Vanasthali 57-45 on Sunday in the semifinal of the senior boys´ category as Tashi Gurung contributed 25 points.
In the final, Excelsior will face Galaxy, which beat Neric 41-34 in the second semifinal.
Excelsior thrashed Angels Heart 37-16 in the semifinal of junior boys´ section while Neric edged past the host Whitefield 24-15. The final matches will be played on Monday.
TIA, Teresa in semis
Trungram International Academy (TIA), Teresa and HEMS booked semifinal berths in senior girls´ category of the Second Deneb Valley-wide Inter School Basketball Tournament.
HEMS defeated Galaxy 18-13 and edged past the host Deneb 11-8 on Sunday.
Teresa thrashed Suryodaya 32-7 while TIA pulled a 32-14 win over Suryodaya to reach the semifinal.
In junior boys´ section, Innovative, Gyan Niketan and Deneb ´A´ reached quarterfinals.
Innovative beat Canvas 11-9, Gyan Niketan defeated Suryodaya 23-14 and Deneb ´A´ eased past Galaxy 15-3.
Premier, Morgan win matches
Premier College and Morgan International College won their respective matches on Sunday in the First Sachindra Memorial Open Men´s Basketball Tournament.
Premier pulled a 80-61 victory over Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC) as Binod Shrestha scored 24 points on the court of NCC. Likewise, Morgan defeated NCC G´star 56-46.
Ayush Singh scored 21 points. Golden Gate struggled past NASA 65-62 in the last match of the day.
The tournament is organized in the memory of late Sachindra Shrestha, who was co-pilot in Tara Airlines and lost his life in a crash on December 15 last year.
Yeti Himalayan beats SSB
Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club, the Nepali ´A´ division club, defeated Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Siliguri 2-0 on Sunday in the All India 22nd Meghalaya Invitational Football Tournament in Shillong.
Rupesh KC scored in the 55th minute and Pukar Gahatraj sealed the 2-0 victory in 75th minute. In the first half, Gahatraj missed a penalty shot.
Yeti Himalayan´s new boy Nirajan Malla was tumbled by SSB defender in the 20th minute but Gahatraj spot kick was blocked by SSB goalie.
