The accident took place as the bus (Ba.2Kha. 9200) leaving for Charikot, Dolakha from Banepa of Kavre fell some 300 feet below the road at Nau Jhingane, Lakuridanda. The accident took place at around 3:30 in the afternoon and police suspect high speed for the reason behind it.[break]
Of the deceased, nine died on the spot while one passenger died in course of treatment at the local hospital. The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Charikot and some in Kathmandu, according to DSP Suresh Kafley of District Police Office, Dolakha.
The deceased have been identified as seven-year-old Urav Pradhan, Bishnu Laxmi Shrestha and Binda Shrestha. Five-year-old Nilesh Shrestha, Ram Chandra Shrestha,35, Shanta Maskey,40, her 13-year-old daughter Ishu Maskey, 72-year-old Nanda Pyari Chakubaji of Bhimeswar Municipality-2 and Bimala Giri of Okhaldhunga.
One of the deceased is yet to be identified.
Seven of the injured are reported to be in a critical condition, according to police.
