In 77 kg weight category, Kamal set a new national record in clean and jerk by lifting 154 kg. The army man had set a record of 153 Kg during the Asian Inter Club Championship held in Uzbekistan earlier this year. Kamal lifted 110 Kg in snatch making his total 264 kg.
Likewise, Nepal Army´s Gyan Bahadur Shrestha set two national records. Gyan Bahadur who lifted a total of 252 kg with 107 kg in snatch and 145 kg in clean and jerk set record in clean and jerk as well as in total. Earlier, Gopal Bahadur Shrestha had set a record of 140 kg in clean and jerk and 250 kg in total, which he had set during the 8th SAG.
In above 105 kg category, Gopal lifted 155 kg in clean and jerk to set a new national record. He had his own record of 152.3 kg in the 9th SAG. He lifted 112 Kg in snatch and 267 kg in total.
In 56 kg weight category, Hem Sankar Chaudhary lifted a total of 177 kg as he raised 75 kg in snatch and 102 in clean and jerk. Likewise, in 105 kg category, Punti Lal Yadav lifted 95 kg in snatch and 135 kg in clean and jerk (230kg total).
Nepal Police´s Bikash Thapa lifted a total of 200 kg (90 kg in snatch and 110 kg in clean and jerk) in 62 kg category.
All these lifters are on top in their weight categories and are likely selected for participation in the 11th SAG. However, SAG organizing committee has still not given confirmation regarding how many Nepali players will be allowed to participate in weightlifting.
“Earlier they had asked to send only four lifters and we had opposed it,” said coach Parthasarathi Sen Gupta. He added, “They had sent us six weight categories, but they want only four of our players to take part in the event. We will make public the names of selected players once this debate ends."
