KATHMANDU, May 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that a new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is expected to be appointed within the next two to four days.
Announcing the Cabinet decisions on Thursday, Minister Gurung, who is also the government's spokesperson, stated, “We expect to have the new governor in the next two to four days without any further delay.” He added that following the recommendation committee's assessment—led by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister—Dr Bishwo Paudel's resignation was deemed necessary.

To expedite the appointment process, the government restructured the recommendation committee, forming a new three-member panel that includes Maha Prasad Adhikari and Dr Poshraj Pandey.
Minister Gurung also noted that this step was taken to move forward swiftly with the selection process.
It has been reported that the ruling coalition partners, the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML, had reached an understanding to appoint a candidate recommended by the NC. However, the appointment was reportedly delayed due to hesitation on the part of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Recently, a bipartisan consensus has emerged in favor of appointing Dr Bishwo Paudel as the next Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
