According to an official at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, the Ministry is working to bring the new national strategy to end child marriage after consulting the stakeholders. [break]
Spokesperson at the Ministry Narayan Kafle said the Ministry was conducting a research in six different districts including Rautahat, Saptari, Kapilvastu and others to make the strategy against child marriage.
Concluding that uninstructive character of society, dowry system, traditional concepts, unemployment and some others were the major causes of increased child marriage cases, the Ministry has stressed on running the awareness raising programmes.
According to a report, the ratio of child marriage is 39 per cent in Rautahat district and most of the girls are the victim of the malpractice. RSS
