Twin Atlantic – Yes, I Was Drunk
Twin Atlantic’s debut mini-album, their 2009 “Vivarium” garnered the quartet critical acclaims and predictions that the Scottish lads may just follow in the footsteps of Biffy Clyro and Idlewild. And although critics say otherwise, their fan base seems to be growing. After their single “Free,” the band has emerged with a fresh offering worth your attention, and it’s titled “Yes, I Was Drunk.” There’s something very soothing about the song even though the instruments used are quite loud.
The Script, featuring Will.i.am – Hall of Fame
The Irish Rock band, The Script, has had many hits in the past and their music is something you’ll definitely like. In their latest single, they’ve tied up with Will.i.am of the Blackeyed Peas fame, and the sound that’s produced is quite amazing. The song, “Hall of Fame,” definitely has a story behind the lyrics. Definitely worth listening to.
Taylor Swift – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
Calling all teenage girls! Taylor Swift has just written the girl power, breakup anthem with her brand new single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” It’s the first taste of her new album, “Red,” scheduled to appear in October. Besides being a massive, sing-along song, it’s also one of the catchiest tunes she’s ever penned. Or, in this case, she co-wrote something she didn’t do in earlier records. We don’t think guys will much appreciate this, though!
Joss Stone – While You’re Out Looking For Sugar
She launched her career by singing Soul standards. And when the time came for a reboot, Joss Stone went back to the beginning, dusting off the blueprint for the 2003 debut, “The Soul Sessions.” The first time around, the intent was to prove that teenage Joss had Soul bona fides, but in 2012, the purpose of “The Soul Sessions, Vol. 2” is to signal how she’s done messing around with fleeting fashions and is getting back down to business: mining smooth hits from the early ‘70s – such as Honey Cone’s “While You’re Out Looking For Sugar.” Stone’s voice still sounds the same with the same kind of singing style, something that we all love!
Jayme Dee – Tip Toes
Jayme Dee is another YouTube sensation catching attention for a number of covers, especially Britney Spears’ smash “Toxic.” But the cover and makeover days of this blonde beauty is over as she has just dropped her new single “Tip Toes.” It’s a sunny pop song with a bit of an island vibe, mixed with a little bit of old school styling. Get a bit of Rihanna and Katy Perry, mix with Amy Winehouse and Colbie Caillat, and you have Jayme Dee. If you don’t believe us, do check out the single.
Norah Jones – Say Goodbye
Norah Jones, in her brand-new album, sounds a lot different, and the music is sparse, too. She teamed up with Brian “Danger Mouse” Burton to pen the songs for her fifth set, “Little Broken Hearts” and the collaboration has picked up her pace and pumped up her palette. But not so much, ’cause she’s gone disco. The single “Happy Pills” is a good example, and despite the entire album’s darker theme of breakups, the beats and melodies are much lighter and peppier. Her second release from the album is “Say Goodbye,” and you should get ready to be surprised by the Grammy winner’s totally different vocal style which sounds fresh and cool.
Linkin Park – Lost in the Echo
Linkin Park are enjoying the success of their current album “Living Things” and the second cut from the set happens to be “Lost In The Echo.” It’s basically a rap rock song and album, like they always do, but must say the beats sound more electronic and a bit electro-dance. Nonetheless, it’s a Linkin Park song, so not many can resist, and so is the case of this single, too.
Usher – Numb
“Numb” is the title of Usher’s latest cut from his “Looking 4 Myself” album. The feel-good collaboration with Scandinavian house trio Swedish House Mafia is one of several tracks that were inspired by the R&B star’s attendance at the 2011 Coachella Music Festival, which is renowned for its cutting-edge lineup. On the other hand, the lyric about forgetting your troubles on the dance floor is something quite nice and you should follow suit sometimes. Numb is the song that’ll definitely make you move a bit or just shake your head, left-right-left!
