The school was closed six months ago after Sivandra Basnet, the then manager, fled leaving 25 students of two batches bewildered.[break]
Following its closure, students, who had paid Rs. 2.2 million each out of total Rs. 2.6 million, were left in lurch.
The airline was supposed to conduct 580 hours of ground class, 180 hours of single engine flight and 10 hours of multi-engine flight. “But that didn’t happen since the company has no multi engine plane. Thus the old management couldn’t complete the course,” said Sulav Sharma, a management official of Shivani Air.
In the first lot, seven students enrolled in the pilot course. But they went to Philippines later to complete the course. Similarly, 7 out of 18 enrolled in the second lot left for South Africa and Philippines.
“Those who could not complete their courses will be taught multi engine course to obtain pilot licenses,” said Manindra Lal Ranjitkar, Chief Executive of the airline.
