Koirala, who is currently in United States of America in course of medical treatment, expressed his belief that the dissenting parties will finally participate in the elections as there is no other alternative. [break]
Koirala expressed the view at a program organized by the Nepal-America Liaison Committee, associated with NC, at Jackson, New York.
Stating that talks are underway with the leaders of the dissenting parties including the CPN-Maoist and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal for their participation in the elections, he clarified that NC is not against federalism but only against ethnic-based federalism.
On a different note, Koirala said his party would give election tickets to those who work in the district and are recommended by their respective constituencies.
On the occasion, various people including member of the Organizational Department, Mridula Koirala, Mahasamiti Member Bed Prasad Kharel, former president of the Liaison Committee, Khagendra GC and New York Chapter Chairperson Jenisha Gurung urged Koirala to provide tickets in the elections to those who have been active in the districts, NC active member Ananta Subedi told RSS.
Subedi said NC party workers in the US have decided to provide financial help to the flood victims back in Nepal. The active party members will provide $50 dollar each while general members will donate as much as they wish, he added.
Koirala, who has been suffering from tongue cancer for the past few years, is learnt to undergo regular medical check-up at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.
