KATHMANDU, April 9: Kansai Nerolac Paints (KNP) has agreed to become the main sponsor of the fourth National Club Volleyball Championship which will be organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation.
The patron of the foundation Gamali Khadka and KNP Nepal’s Country Director Manoj Kumar Mishra signed an agreement paper on Monday. According to the agreement, the organizer will receive Rs 600,000, while the tournament will be played under the name KNP Japan National Women’s Volleyball Club Championship. On the same occasion, KNP handed over the check to the organizer. Mishra expressed his happiness for getting to be the main sponsor for the national game of Nepal. He said that he decided to invest in volleyball as it has an immense potential which will contribute in the sports development of the country.

The tournament will start from May 4 and will conclude on May 8. A total of six teams—three departmental teams Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club and Armed Police Force including Shivam New Diamond Academy, Western Volleyball Team and Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center—will take part in the tournament, informed the foundation’s president Ranjan Khadka.
The tournament will be played in league cum knockout format and the teams will be divided into two groups. The top two teams of each group will advance into the semifinals. The winner will take home Rs 150,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 100,000. The third-placed team will bag Rs 50,000. Likewise, the best player of the tournament will be prized with Rs 10,000, while the five best players of each category and the coach will be given Rs 5,000 each.
