Nepse sneaks 5.32 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 1.14 billion on Thursday

KATHMANDU, March 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday slid 5.32 points to close at 1,933.31 points.


The secondary market opened at 1,938.62 points and reached the day’s low at 1,920.36 points in the first hour of trading. In the next moment, the market bounced back and hit the highest of 1,946.77 points before losing by around 13 points to close for the day.

According to stockbrokers, share investors are in a wait and watch mood for the appointment of a new finance minister to inject their money in the stock exchange market.


In the intraday trading, 119 listed companies lost in their market value, while 92 companies were registered as gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies fell nominally by 0.51 points.


The daily turnover amount declined to Rs 1.14 billion from Rs 1.20 billion on Wednesday. While hydropower, investment, ‘others’ and trading groups were the gainers, the remaining nine groups had their average market value declined.  


Among individual companies, NIC Asia Bank had the largest single-day transaction of its shares worth Rs 49.49 million. Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost loser, while Unique Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest percent of its market price.
