Nepse slips 3.34 points, daily turnover declines to Rs 724.96 million

KATHMANDU, May 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday slipped 3.34 points to close at 1,818.31 points.

The market opened at 1,821.64 points and went to a straight fall to the day’s low at 1,807.98 points. In the next moment, the market hit as high as 1,826.65 points before shedding around eight points to close for the day.

Stockbrokers said the market has failed to rebound due to the impact of the revised monetary policy that could not address the aspirations of the investors.

In the intraday trading, 104 listed companies lost their market prices, while 96 companies registered as gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies also fell 0.57 points.

Out of the 13 groups, only four including manufacturing and processing, microfinance, development bank and finance had their indices increased. Among the nine losers, non-life insurance and hotels and tourism lost double digit points in their indices.

The daily turnover amount declined to Rs 724.96 million from Rs 900.56 million on Sunday.

Among individual companies, NIC Asia Bank had the biggest transactions of its shares worth Rs 30.46 million. Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Co Limited was registered as the topmost loser while NIBL Growth Fund gained the highest percent of its market price on the day.
