KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday surged 29.87 points to close at 2,727.91 points.
The secondary market that opened at 2,698.03 points, gained steady growth and escalated to the day’s high at 2,738.01 points before the last 45 minutes of trading time. The market however corrected by 11 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Three groups including trading, finance and hydropower witnessed decline in their market values, while the trading index plunged by the largest of 55 points. Out of 10 gainers, the index of hotels and tourism increased the most by 154.90 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 6.28 points. The daily turnover jumped to Rs 10.04 billion from Rs 9.47 billion on Sunday.
Among individual companies, 166 were gainers while 74 were registered as losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 326.43 million.
Six companies including Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited, Excel Development Bank, Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited and Dibyashwori Hydropower Ltd were the topmost gainers. Saptakoshi Development Bank lost the highest of 10 percent of its market value.
