Nepse plunges 18.06 points, daily turnover rises to Rs 1.323 billion

KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday plunged 18.06 points to close at 1,858.53 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,876.60 points and fell to 1,857.62 points in the first one hour. The market then went through a series of fluctuations and hit the day’s low at 1,851.84 points in the last 10 minutes of trading. The market recovered around seven points in the remaining period in the intraday trading.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also declined by 2.80 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 1.323 billion from Rs 1.014 billion on Wednesday. 

Only mutual funds among the 13 trading groups posted a nominal gain of 0.02 points. Life insurance plunged 100.57 points, the only group that witnessed a three-digit fall.  

Among individual companies, the market values of 201 companies declined whereas 32 companies were successful in adding value to their indices.

Nepal Insurance Co Ltd Promoter Share had the largest trading of Rs 116.71 million. Vijaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd shed 10 percent in its market value and was the highest loser. Ru Ru Jalbidhyut Pariyojana Limited, having an additional 5.63 percent in its market price, led the gainer segment.
