NEPSE jumps 47.04 points; two positive circuit breakers imposed on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, July 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased by a whopping 47.04 points to close at 2,100.43 points.

The market gained 32 points in the pre opening session. After the market opened for main trading, the index readily jumped by 77 points to 2,162.49 points in the first hour. The authority imposed positive circuit breakers twice within the time period.

According to stockbrokers, the secondary market jumped by a significant value due to the new political development that took place recently. On Monday midnight, the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress joined hands to topple the government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The market however fell to as low as 2,087.8 points in the next 10 minutes. The market appeared largely stable in the remaining trading hours.     

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased by a notable 8.94 points. The daily turnover surged to Rs 4.57 billion from Rs 2.99 billion on Monday.

All the 13 trading groups added values to their market prices. Non-life insurance, life insurance, and manufacturing and processing gained three-digit points of 253.99 points, 213.36 points and 209.80 points, respectively.  

Among individual companies, 227 were recorded as gainers whereas 17 were the losers.

NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 123.38 million. Himalayan Distillery Limited added 8.54 percent to its market value and was recorded as the topmost gainer. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 6.46 percent of its market price.
