KATHMANDU, Dec 24: The Nepal Stock Exchange index decreased 6.45 points to close at 1119.74 today. The sensitive index, which measures the performance of class 'A' stocks, also dipped 1.7 points to sit at 253.68. 

The market witnessed the trading of over Rs 798 million worth of 2.2 million shares of the total 168 companies. 

Of the total 11 subgroups, share values of seven went down, while the remaining four made gains. 

Finance companies have gained five points, the manufacturing companies 2.79 points, others 3.04 points and life insurance companies 68.28 points whereas banking sector has slumped 10.32 points, trade sector 11.40, hotel sector 32.66 points, development banks 17.5 points, the non-life insurance companies 20.47 points and the microfinance companies 5.89 points.
