Nepse inches up 5.19 points, while daily turnover falls to 1.737 billion on Monday

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday increased marginally by 5.19 points to 1,976.29 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,971.10 points and plunged to the day low at 1,954.95 points in the first 40 minutes of trading. The market went through a series of fluctuations and hit the day’s high at 1,982.52 points in the last 20 minutes of the trading hours. However, the market shed around six points before it closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also added 0.66 points. Daily turnover fell to Rs 1.737 billion from Rs 1.830 billion on Sunday. 

Two groups including hotels and tourism, and manufacturing and processing, lost 49.28 points and 4.73 points, respectively. Of the 11 trading gainers, the development bank added the largest of 50.10 points.  

Among individual companies, the market values of 163 companies surged, while 64 companies posted losses in their indices.

NIC Asia Bank with trading of its shares worth Rs 216.80 million, led in terms of shares transaction value. CYC Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the highest gainer in terms of percentage rise in its market price. Similarly, Peoples Hydropower Company Limited lost the highest of 5.29 percent.
