Nepse falls 28.92 points, daily turnover inclines to Rs 1.15 billion on Thursday

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday dropped 28.92 points to close at 1,932.45 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,961.37 points and went to a straight fall throughout the trading hours. The market hit day’s low at 1,930.56 points in the last four minutes before the index recovered by nominal value to close for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also lost 5.65 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.15 billion, up from 796.87 million on Tuesday. 

The market values of all the 13 groups declined in the intraday trading. Life insurance and non-life insurance had their indices dropped by three-digit mark of 150.52 points and 141.69 points, respectively.

Among individual companies, the market values of 203 companies declined, while only 21 companies posted gain in their indices.

Liberty Energy Company Limited, with turnover of Rs 61.54 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Barahi Hydropower Public Limited by shedding 9.71 percent in its market value was the highest loser. Shuvam Power Limited gained the highest percent of its market price.
