Nepse drops 19.42 points, while daily turnover falls to Rs 2.326 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday plunged 19.42 points to close at 2,010.35 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,029.78 points and plunged to as low as 2,011.32 points in the first 20 minutes. In the next moment, the index surged to the day’s high at 2,036.81 points.

It was followed by a series of fluctuations to hit the day’s low at 2,004.36 points in the last eight minutes of trading hours. By recovering around six points, the market closed for the day.

In the intraday trading, the sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also dipped 3.10 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 2.326 billion from Rs 3.293 billion on Thursday. 

Except microfinance that gained 36.36 points, the remaining 12 trading groups lost in their market values. Life insurance and non life insurance lost three digit marks of 160.29 points and 156.63 points, respectively.

Among individual companies, the market values of 166 companies declined while 62 companies posted gain in their indices.

Machhapuchhre Bank Limited, with turnover of Rs 132.49 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. With a drop of 10 percent in the market value, Shuvam Power Limited was the biggest loser. Similarly, Swarojgar Laghu Bitta Bikas Bank succeeded to add the highest percent of its market value.
