Nepse drops 18.60 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 1.814 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday dropped 18.60 points to close at 2,004.30 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,022.91 points and hit the day’s high at 2,026.58 points in the first four minutes of trading. The market then went downhill to come down to as low as 1,994.06 points in the last half an hour of trading time. The market recovered around 10 points before it closed for the day. 

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also declined 3.29 points. The daily turnover fell to Rs 1.814 billion from Rs 2.093 billion on Tuesday.

All the 13 trading groups had their indices decreased. Non life insurance shed the largest of 100.68 points, followed by life insurance, development bank and hotels and tourism.

Among individual companies, the market values of 193 companies declined, while 34 companies posted gains in their indices.

Sun Nepal Life Insurance Company with a trading of its shares worth Rs 76.22 million led in terms of shares transaction value. Laxmi Value Fund 2 lost the highest percent of its market price. Similarly, Manakamana Engineering Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 9.90 percent.
