KATHMANDU, July 26: Nepal’s premier folk-rock band, Nepathya is set to leave for a second leg of Europe tour on Wednesday. The band will leave Kathmandu tomorrow to perform in Hamburg and Copenhagen.
The first stop for the band will be Hamburg where they will perform at Gruenspan on July 30 and move on to Copenhagen to perform at Amagerbio on August 2. This is to be Nepathya’s debut shows in both Germany and Denmark.
“I am excited to perform in new lands and reach to the broader Nepali Diaspora” said Amrit Gurung, front-man of Nepathya, “We will meet to have fun and also share memories of Nepal” he added.
The band is scheduled to perform a two hour set of popular numbers from Nepathya’s catalogue. It will include songs from the classic hits like ‘Chekyo Chekyo’, ‘Jomsome Bazaar to Resham’,’ Taalko Pani’ and to their recent You Tube released number ‘Koshi ko Paani yo Zindagani’.
Nepathya to perform in western Australia
The recently released single has already been a hit on You Tube with overwhelming views. ‘Koshi ko Paani…yo Zindagani’… is a folk melody from the eastern hills of Nepal fused into Nepathya style rock. It was collected by Nepathya front man Amrit Gurung from Dilli Damai, a traditional folk musician of Chainpur, Sankhuwasabha.
Amrit will be accompanied by Dhurba on drums, Suraj on Keyboards, Subin on Bass, Niraj on Guitars and Shanti on Madal. The entourage will also include a technical and management team from Nepalaya.
The Hamburg show is being organized by Tamu Samaaj, Hamburg and the Denmark show is hosted by INAS, International Nepalese Artist Society, Denmark.
