KATHMANDU, April 12: Nepal chances of qualifying to the final round of AFC Challenge Cup as the best second-placed team ended with Pakistan finishing second in Group D qualifiers in Colombo.[break]

From Group D, Sri Lanka qualified for the final round when they held Pakistan to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday.

With the draw Pakistan are left with a minimal chance to make it in the eight-team main round as the best second placed side from the respective four groups, the News reported.

However, it would be known after the completion of the qualifiers in other groups. Pakistan has two points from their drawn matches against Chinese Taipei and Sri Lanka, overtaking Nepal on better goal average.

Due to Afghanistan´s withdrawal from Group C, matches against fourth-placed sides in the other groups are excluded from the comparison.

Nepal earned two points with 1-1 goal average in Group C while Pakistan went past them with the same number of points but a better 3-3 goal average.

The competitions in Group A and C are yet to conclude.
