The government of Hong Kong honors people making contributions in various sectors with the award every year. Gurung, who is from Kaski, Nepal and has been living here for the last 14 years, has made significant contributions for the welfare of various minorities, including the Nepalis, in Hong Kong.
He is also the publisher of the Nepali Post that mainly covers the news of Nepali community in Hong Kong.
“I feel proud for being awarded. The award should be taken as respect given to the minorities by the Hong Kong government,” said Gurung.
