KATHMANDU, May 7: An eight-member Nepali team including seven athletes has left here for Queensland of Australia today to participate in the World Rafting Championship.
Shakti Kumar Gurung, Padam Bahadur Gurung, Dipesh Gurung, Sabin Gurung, Sunil Gurung and Rabil Miya would compete under men's open team category in the championship to be held from May 13. Suraj Gurung is the coach.
Nepali rafting team off to Japan
Nepali team would participate in 250 metres sprint, 350 metres Head to Head, 450 metres Slalom and 21-25 metres Down River Race.
This is the second time Nepal is participating in the World Rafting Championship. Earlier in 2017, Nepal had participated in the championship held in Japan.
A total of 29 countries are participating in the championship.
Wishing the team for its success, Minister for Youth and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Sunar Bishwokarma on Monday bade farewell to the team amidst a function.
