Nepali national women's football team to play two friendly matches with Bangladesh

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The Nepali national women's football team, which is preparing for the AFC Women's Asian Cup-2022 qualifiers, has announced it will play two friendly matches against Bangladesh. 


The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has stated on its website that it will play two matches against Bangladesh on September 9 and 10. The Bangladesh team arrived in Nepal on Monday.

Both the friendly matches will be played at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor, according to ANFA. The spectators will be allowed to watch the pre-selection practice game. ANFA has fixed the ticket price for the game at Rs 200 for general and Rs 500 for VIP.


Although the AFC Women's Asian Cup-2022 qualifiers game was initially decided to be held in Nepal, it is being held in Uzbekistan due to COVID-19 pandemic. The head coach Gary Phillips has already announced the 23-member Nepali squad for the qualifiers and they are currently training at the ANFA headquarters in Lalitpur.


In the AFC Women's Asian Cup-2022 qualifiers, Nepal is in Group F and includes Hong Kong and the Philippines. Nepal’s first match will be against the Philippines on September 18 and the second match will be against Hong Kong on September 21. The match will be held at the JAR Stadium in Uzbekistan. The group's match between the Philippines and Hong Kong will be played on September 24. The top team of the group will get a chance to play in the Asian Cup to be held in India next year. The Asian Cup will be held from January 20 to February 6.
