The event was inaugurated jointly by Nepali ambassador to Egypt Prahlad Kumar Prasai, ambassador of Myanmar to Israel Myo Aye, ambassador of Sri Lanka to Israel Sarath Devasena Wijesinghe and Deputy Chief of the Mission of Royal Thai Embassy in Israel Suchart Liengsaengthong, according to a press statement issued by Nepali embassy in Israel. Addressing the function, Nepalese envoy Prasain highlighted the glory of the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini and urged the Israeli people to visit Lumbini among other places of Nepal. He also emphasized that Buddha´s message of compassion and devotion to the service of humanity is more relevant today than any other time in the history.
Prasain added that Nepal is center of attraction not only for young people but also for people of all ages and interests. He also informed that that Nepal was organizing various functions both at home and its embassies abroad to mark the diamond jubilee of the first ascent of Mt Everest.
An Israeli operator of social networks and good friend of Nepal Dani Abrahami had made a comprehensive power point presentation on his experiences about tourism attractions in Nepal. The first Israeli to climb Mt Everest also shared his experiences. Similarly, Nadav Ben Yehuda, who rescued a Turkish climber from Mt Everest but had to abandon his plan to scale the Everest, also shared his Everest experience.
While second secretary of the embassy of Nepal, Roshan Khanal made presentation on Life and Teachings of Buddha, attache of the embassy Hari Prasad Prasain had made a brief presentation on the history of Everest ascent. Nepali community living in Israel had performed several cultural and traditional dances and songs.
