Nepali dress made compulsory for Chhathar people's reps

TEHRATHUM, July 28: The elected people's representatives of the Chhathar rural municipality in the district have decided to put on the Nepali dress during office time.

Accordingly, the women representatives would be donned in 'gunyocholi' and the 'dhaka' fabric shawl while the male representatives would wear the 'daura-suruwal, coat and the 'dhaka topi' (cap). 

The first meeting of the Chha Thar rural municipality executive body on Thursday took a decision to this effect. The meeting took a decision that the elected people's representatives would have to wear the Nepali dress while participating in any formal programmes. 


The rural municipality's executive board also decided to promote the use of the dhaka fabric for which the district is known, Santabir Tigela, chairman of the rural municipality, said. 

The meeting also took a decision to transform the Chha Thar rural municipality into a model rural municipality. RSS
