KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The Nepali National Cricket Team has returned to Kathmandu after playing their ICC World Cup League-2 matches against Oman and America. The team of young aspiring players won two of their four matches. In addition, the team’s performance in the league has improved Nepal’s ranking as well.

The players were welcomed at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon their return by Chumbi Lama of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). The team was able to secure a historic win against Oman in the series by defeating them in the last match of the league. It is a good result for the team to defeat the home team in their own country, Gyanendra Malla, captain of the national team, said.

He said that the team needs to gain more experience to improve further. Although Coach Dav Whatmore was able to make a good impression of the national team within a short period of his term, further development strategies and plans are needed to strengthen the team even more, Malla said.

Earlier, outgoing coach Dav Whatmore said that the CAN needed to organize more international games for the Nepali team to gain further exposure and experience for their development.
