Nepali carrot, beetroot exported to Germany

Carrots and beetroot produced in Shreepur of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15 of Chitwan district have started to be exported to Germany.  It is reported that 100 tons of beetroot and 150 tons of carrots have started to be exported to Germany.

Chitwan, Feb 16: Carrots and beetroot produced in Shreepur of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15 of Chitwan district have started to be exported to Germany.  It is reported that 100 tons of beetroot and 150 tons of carrots have started to be exported to Germany. 


According to Chandra Prasad Adhikari, President of the District Agrarian Association Chitwan, since two years the carrot and beetroot produced here have been sent abroad by 'The Agranik Valley' organization. He said that to promote local production and encourage farmers, agricultural produce is being exported by obtaining certification from the international level.

According to him, this year the product is being prepared to be sent from February 27. Stating that 20 bighas here have been recognized as agronomic areas, he said, "Out of 20 bighas, 60 percent of the area has been planted with carrots and 40 percent with beetroots. 


The export has been started after the foreign consumers trusted the products here. "Chhabilal Neupane, a member of the association, informed that German-bound carrots are priced at Rs 20 per kg and beetroot at Rs 50 per kg. 


He said that the carrots and beets planted by 15 farmers associated with the association would be exported to Germany.
