KATHMANDU, June 7: Nepal Veterinary Association, umbrella organization of Nepalese veterinarians, has started its 24 hour telephonic consultancy service to animal owners across the country in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The service will be effective from 8th June 2021.

With this service coming into effect, animal owners across the country including the pet owner can directly call to a toll-free number 1159. The service is being initiated with the support of NIMBUS, first pellet feed mill of the country.

Consultant vets, who are the members of Association, will be receiving the call for 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.

The association came up with the idea of a telephonic helpline as the country is currently under prohibitory order. This service will continue at least during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Association has published around 300 phone numbers of veterinarians for additional one to one consultation. This facility can be extended to video consultation as deemed necessary.
