Nepal U-19 team beats Himachal in friendly cricket

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Nepali cricket team, preparing for the ICC U-19 World Cup in India, beat Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association XI by three wickets in a friendly match played at Dharamsala Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. The match was played for 40-over per side due to wet outfield.

Skipper Raju Rijal's highest 45 runs off 54 balls helped Nepal chase down 171 runs target in 38.3 overs losing seven wickets. Raju hit two fours. Aarif Sheikh remained not out on 35 runs off 39 balls that included four boundaries, while Sunil Dhamala contributed 30 runs and Yogendra Singh Karki added 29 runs for Nepal.Ayush Janwal claimed three wickets, while Ankush Kumar picked up two wickets for Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, Himachal Pradesh, being invited to bat first, was bowled out for 170 runs in 36.3 overs despite Digbijay Singh scoring 51 runs off 46 balls, hitting a six and seven fours.

Ayush Janwal added 47 runs off 41 balls that included three sixes and four boundaries, while Arsalan Khan added 31 runs off 35 balls which included a six and three fours.

Aarif and Prem Tamang bagged three wickets each and Sandeep Lamichhane pocketed two wickets to restrict the opponents.
