Nepal to abide by Olympic Charter

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: A delegation led by Youth and Sports Minister Kamala Roka returned from Kuwait on Friday after discussing the controversy over the existence of two Olympic committees in Nepal with the officials of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).



The Nepali delegation, which also included National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama and the internationally recognized Nepal Olympic Committee´s President Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, has decided to resume Nepal´s sports activities in accordance to the International Olympic Charter, according to a press release issued by the NSC on Friday. The other decision that the Nepali delegation made after meeting OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah at the OCA headquartes in Kuwait is to use the Olympic rings during the upcoming Sixth National Games to be held in the Far Western Region from February 26 to March 4.



Nepal has also invited the officials of the OCA to attend the National Games.



Likewise, OCA has also backed Nepal´s plans to organize Mountain Games in the near future.
