KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Nepal will take on the United Arab Emirates in the opener of the ACC U-19 Premier cricket that kicked off on Friday in Malaysia.
The match between Nepal and UAE will be played at Bayuemas Oval in Kual Lumpur at 7.15 NST. The tournament will be the last one for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that was taken over by International Cricket Council (ICC) effective from July 1.Nepal, which is aiming to claim the title of the tournament, will depend on all-rounders as Nepal Coach Jagat Tamata had said that his team consisted of the highest number of all-rounders.
In the last meeting, Nepal beat the UAE by 94 runs in the ACC Premier League held in Kuwait last year after Aarif Sheikh scored 60 runs and Prem Tamang scored 52. The event also served as a selection for ICC U-19 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh next year.
Nepal has also taken the event as a platform to prepare for the upcoming ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Malaysia scheduled for October 14 to 23.
Nepal will play second match against Afghanistan on Saturday and face host Malaysia on Monday.
Nepal is scheduled to face Kuwait on September 1 and the last match of the round robin format against Saudi Arabia on September 3.
