Nepal suffer first loss in junior chess

KATHMANDU, June 3: The Nepali youth team suffered their first loss Wednesday in the ongoing Lions Kamrupa-Nepal Junior Friendly Chess Tournament at Guwahati, Assam, India. [break]



Rabin Sunwar who replaced Madan Krishna Kayastha on Wednesday lost in his début third-round match. Aarham Jain registered the first victory for the host team, defeating Rabin.



But Rabin, in the second match of the day, brushed aside his earlier defeat and beat Abhilasa Bali with his 36th move.



Junior Nepal champion Nikesh Duwal, rated 1758, won both his third- and fourth- round matches. Duwal defeated Avinash Bali and Kisale Chakrabati in the matches.

Likewise, Prajwal Raj Rajopadhya beat Sahil Jain and Siman Tiny Hajra in the third and the fourth rounds, respectively. And Prakash Nepal downed Nikunja Agrawal and Subham Jain, respectively.



Similarly, Saurabh Pradhan beat Mohit Jain and Siman Tiny Hajra, Prashant Bhasim beat Sneha Kjriblal, and Srikrishna Prajapatii beat Suman Jain and Ruchit Chauhan.

Bijay Man Thaiba defeated Barsha Chhetri, an Indian of Nepali origin, and Nikunja Agrawal; Sajin Maharjan beat Siddani Khemka and Barsha; and Manishwor Thapa beat Abhinar Pathwaree and Siddhanne Khemka.



Bijay Raj Aryal, who participated from the fourth round, started with a win, defeating Rohit Jain.
