KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Nepal finished at the top of the medal tally, by clinching the highest number of medals at the end of the second day in the ongoing 13th SAG in Kathmandu.
In the mega event that kicked off yesterday, Nepal so far has bagged 24 medals including 15 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals. Similarly, India stands in the second position in the medal tally with altogether 14 medals comprising 3 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze.
Sri Lanka has the third highest medals with 9 medals including 3 gold, six silver and 10 bronze. Pakistan is in the fourth position with 2 gold medals, 3 silver and 5 bronze while Bangladesh is in 5th position with one gold medal and 12 silver medals only.
Bhutan has secured the 6th position with one bronze. Maldives has not bagged any medal yet in the regional mega sports of SAARC-member nations. Mandekaji Shrestha of Nepal had clinched the first gold medal for Nepal in the regional game Nepal is hosting for the 3rd time.
Shrestha won the gold medal in the individual kata under karate on Monday. Among the 15 gold medals Nepal won so far, the highest medals has come from karate and taekwondo standing at 14 comprising 7 from karate and 7 from taekwondo.
