KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Nepal Republic Media (NRM) was awarded the Conservation Media Award WWF (World Wildlife Fund) for 2016. In the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Attorney General Raman Shrestha handed over the prizes to Binod Raj Gyawali, Managing Director of NRM on Friday.
The WWF has given the award to NRM based on the extensive coverage of environmental issues such as climate change, wildlife, natural resources, biodiversity etc by NRM’s print and online publications.
Along with Nepal Republic Media, Far Wstern Media Development Center also got the award for its valuable work for the preservation and promotion of natural environment. The award carries a purse of Rs. 50 thousand.
The program was formally organized by the Ministry of Forest on the occasion of the 10th Conservation Day. Shree Jung Brigade of Nepal Army and Chetana Women Community Forest were also awarded with Abraham Conservation Award in the program.
