KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Nepal recorded 216 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday along with 209 recoveries and two deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 7,631 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 213 PCR and three antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 5,073 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 4,747 are in home isolation, 224 in institutional isolation, 83 in ICUs, and 19 on ventilators. Similarly, 98 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,596 people have died from the virus across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 137 cases of the virus on Sunday. Of them, 118 were recorded in Kathmandu, six in Bhaktapur, and 13 in Lalitpur districts.
