KATHMANDU, July 30: Nepal Police have taken swift action against individuals involved in harassing passengers at the New Bus Park in Gongabu, Kathmandu. The Naya Bus Park Police Division has been actively arresting and penalizing offenders who forcibly drag bags from passengers arriving at the bus park.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anil Adhikari, co-spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the recent operations led to the arrest of 10 individuals on Saturday, including four hotel operators. These taxi drivers, hotel employees and hotel operators were responsible for harassing travelers arriving from various destinations in Kathmandu.

While the police have given proper advice to the offenders on this occasion, they emphasize that further action will be taken if such incidents are repeated. The police are determined to continue their campaign to ensure the safety and comfort of travelers.

Ganesh Dhakal, president of the Hotel Professional Federation, expressed strong support for the joint efforts of the Federation and Nepal Police in curbing passenger harassment. He emphasized that individuals causing inconvenience and distress to passengers should be held accountable and punished accordingly.

Dhakal stressed that passengers arrive in Kathmandu with specific destinations in mind and should not be subjected to random bag-dragging, causing unnecessary trouble. The federation is committed to ensuring that passengers are not tempted or exploited in any way.

In a bid to enhance security and promote orderly operations in the hotel sector, the Federation has taken initiatives to install 'CCTV cameras' within the hotels. This measure aims to deter criminal activities and ensure a safer environment for guests.
