The South Asian rivals are pitted in separate groups with Nepal, India and Sri Lanka in group A and Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Maldives and Bhutan in group B.
Home team forward Shakhawat Rony scored the winner for Bangladesh in the 18th minute converting Sohel's cross.
With the latest defeat, Nepal's goal drought continued to 11 matches. The national football team had scored last goal for Nepal during its 2-1 win over India in the last edition of tournament at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.
Nepal failed to capitalize on numerous chances created after conceding the goal. Anil Gurung wore the captain's armband for Nepal which saw three debutants including Heman Gurung, Nabin Lama and Yogesh Gurung.
Nepal made six chances in second half but that experiment did not help the young team lead by coach Patrick Aussems.
The coach however, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance. “I am happy with the game. But the home team netted taking advantage of our mistake. The team is young and they made mistake, we have to improve that soon since we are playing SAFF Championship in near future.”
