Minister for Labor and Transport Management Mohammad Aftab Alam and his Korean counterpart Yim Hi signed the pact in Seoul on Monday. [break]
During the signing ceremony, ministers of both the countries held discussion on the ways to increase and manage employment opportunities to Nepali workers among others.
On the occasion, Korean minister Yim said Korea was positive for employing more Nepali workers this year despite ongoing financial crisis that have plagued Korean economy.
Expressing commitment to enhance skill of Nepali job aspirants, Minister Alam asked Korean officials to increase employment opportunities for Nepali workers in Korea.
Labor Secretary Babu Ram Acharya, Nepalese ambassador to South Korea Kamal Koirala and other senior officials of Korean government were also present in the signing ceremony.
Secretary Acharya assured the Korean officials that the Nepali government would encourage Nepali workers to return home after their contract period expires.
Nepal and Korea had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to send Nepali workers in five sectors -- agriculture, service, fishery, manufacturing and construction -- on July 23, 2003.
