KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Nepal Investment Mega Bank Ltd (NIMB) has achieved a landmark milestone by becoming the first private sector entity and commercial bank in Nepal to receive accreditation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The accreditation, under the medium-size category, enables NIMB to manage climate projects ranging from USD 50 million to USD 250 million, marking a significant leap for Nepal's private sector in global climate finance.

Speaking on the achievement, Jyoti Prakash Pandey, CEO of NIMB, said, “We are honored to be recognized by the GCF and are eager to leverage this opportunity to implement transformative climate change projects. This achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Finance (NDA), national and international DAEs, consultants, and all stakeholders who supported us in attaining this landmark.”
With its accreditation, NIMB aims to drive sustainable investments in Nepal, focusing on climate mitigation and adaptation projects in critical areas such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, resilient infrastructure, and water security. The bank plans to collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and international partners to maximize the impact of these projects, advancing Nepal’s national climate goals and contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.
