Nepal imports smartphones worth Rs 22 billion in eight months

According to the Department of Customs, a total of 1,407,078 smartphones worth Rs 21.91 billion were imported during this period. The government collected Rs 4.08 billion in revenue from these imports.

KATHMANDU, March 20: In the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25), Nepal imported smartphones worth nearly Rs 22 billion.


According to the Department of Customs, a total of 1,407,078 smartphones worth Rs 21.91 billion were imported during this period. The government collected Rs 4.08 billion in revenue from these imports.

By the end of Falgun (mid-March), Nepal also imported 1,609,097 other mobile phones and wireless communication devices worth Rs 1.52 billion, generating Rs 283.80 million in revenue.
