Nepal goes down to India

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepal suffered its second straight defeat in the Group A qualifiers for the AFC U-19 Championship on Sunday as it lost 1-0 against India at the Al Arabia stadium in Doha, Qatar.



Substitute Faiaz SK scored the all-important goal three minutes from time to secure India´s first win in two matches in the qualifiers. Forward SK came off the bench in the 59th minute as a replacement for Lalhlimpuia Daniel.[break]



Nepal was defeated 2-1 by Turkmenistan in its first match on Friday. After Sunday´s defeat, Nepal slipped to the bottom of the table and is the only team yet to open its account.

The Nepali team lead by coach Raju Shakya will play its third match against Uzbekistan on Tuesday before facing Qatar in the last group match on Thursday.



The winners of all nine groups and the six best runners-up from all groups will join host Myanmar in the finals of the competition scheduled for October 2014.
