KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Nepal is exporting handicrafts worth Rs 12 billion in a year.
It was informed at a press meeting organized on the eve of the 20th handicrafts trade fair and 18th handicrafts competition to be organized by Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) on Monday.

FHAN President Prachanda Shakya informed that the handicrafts made in Nepal were exported to over 60 countries.
Nepali handicrafts have a significant contribution to the national economy, thus warranting special attention from the government and others concerned for its protection and promotion, he stressed.
The FHAN is holding the 18th handicrafts competition and 20th trade fair at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg, from December 14 to 18. There will be three pavilions with 130 stalls.
It is expected that the fair would record more than 100 thousand visitors, according to organizers.
Anyone securing first position in the competition will get a cash prize of 50,000, while the second one Rs 30,000 and the third Rs 20,000. Similarly, 10 senior citizens and noted artists over 70 years would be honored on the occasion.
