KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Nepal has concluded its journey for SAFF U-15 Women’s Football Championship with a 1-1 draw with Bhutan on Thursday.
Nepali team had already crashed out of the inaugural edition of the championship after facing two straight defeats against Bangladesh (6-0) and India (10-0).
At Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bhutan took an early lead with Diki scoring an opening goal in the ninth minute. Sabita Rana Magar rescued Nepal by scoring an equalizer in the 81st minute. Nepal had another chance to add a goal in the match, but Saraswoti Hamal failed to score from the spot.
Meanwhile, home team Bangladesh defeated India 3-0 to remain in the top with nine points acquired from three matches, in the tournament that is being held in round-robin format. With the defeat, India found itself in the second place in the competition with six points earned with two wins out of three.
Top two sides Bangladesh and India will battle for the title in the summit clash on December 24.
