Nepal Embassy in DC marks Republic Day

KATHMANDU, May 25: Nepali Embassy in Washington DC hosted a reception to mark Republic Day Thursday. US Assistant Secretary for South Asia and Central Asian Region at the State Department, Robert O. Blake was the chief guest, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy.



Addressing the reception, Nepali ambassador to the US Shanker Sharma said formation of Nepal caucus in the US Congress, resumption of US Peace Corps volunteer service to Nepal, signing of Trade and Investment Framework Agreement and selection of Nepal as threshold country for Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) were some of the important achievements in Nepal-US relations. Likewise, Blake while expressing happiness over the long and strong relations between the two countries mentioned that US was willing to support Nepal for socio economic development and hoped that MCC will support to improve governance in Nepal.
