Kushal Bhurtel scored his highest innings of 71 runs
KATHMANDU, July 19: In the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup match on Wednesday, Nepal secured a thrilling victory against the UAE 'A' by 3 wickets. After winning the toss, UAE 'A' managed to score 157 runs in 44 overs.
Nepal defeats UAE by 5 wickets
Nepal's batter Kushal Bhurtel achieved the highest score of 71 runs off 43 balls in today’s match. Dev Khanal scored 24 runs in 38 balls, Sandeep Jora scored 24 runs in 15 balls, Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel scored 9 runs in 11 balls, Gulshan Jha scored 11 runs in 18 balls, Kushal Malla scored 2 runs in 6 balls and Pratish GC scored 8 runs in 3 balls.
UAE bowler Mohammad Faraazuddin took 5 wickets and Muhammad Jawad Ullah took 2 wickets. Faraazuddin dismissed Gulshan Jha, Pawan Sharraf, Kushal Bhurtel, Dev Khanal, Sandeep Jora while Jawad Ullah dismissed Arjun Saud and Rohit Kumar Paudel.
In the first innings, Kushal Bhurtel showcased an outstanding performance by taking 6 wickets and the UAE ‘A’ at a low level. He conceded 40 runs in 10 overs and took 6 wickets. Similarly, Shyam Dhakal secured 2 wickets while Kushal Malla and Pawan Sharraf claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, both Nepal and the UAE ‘A’ faced defeats and were eliminated from the first stage of the competition. Nepal lost to Pakistan 'A' by 4 wickets and to India 'A' by 9 wickets. Similarly, the UAE 'A' lost to India by 8 runs and to Pakistan by 184 runs.
