A victory for Nepal in the final has put a brake on India's six match undefeated record against Nepal in all forms of football and also ended the latter's 'jinx' against the South Asian powerhouse.
Nepal's Ananta Tamang netted the decisive and last penalty while Nepal's goal keeper Sojit Gurung blocked India's first penalty strike from its player Mohamuddin.
Hemanta Thapa Magar, Sunil Bal, Bishwas Shrestha and Dona Thapa all did their job after converting their penalties before the decisive penalty.
During the first half, Nepal's Tej Tamang scored in the 31st minute to give the team an edge over the opponent. Tej scored on a bouncing ball after Indian goal keeper fended off Ananta Tamang's header from a corner kick. Nepal got the corner kick after the Indian goal keeper managed to block a strike from Anjan Bista.

Just two minutes before the final whistle India was rewarded a penalty after a defender's mistake. India came right back into the match after converting the penalty
U19 SAFF Championship: Nepal loses to India on penalties
The youth team has ended Nepal's title drought of around one and a half decade by beating India. The last international football title that any team of Nepal lifted was during the Eighth South Asian Games in 1999. Since then, Nepal had never won any international football title be it at the age group, women's event or by the national team.
