Nepal condemns Bodhgaya 'terrorist' bombing

KATHMANDU, July 8 : The government has condemned the terrorist attack at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya, India, on Sunday.



Issuing a press statement on Monday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the government of Nepal is saddened by the heinous act of serial blasts at the Mahabodhi Temple. “As such acts go against human aspirations and faith, the government of Nepal strongly condemns this act of violence,” said the statement. While expressing sympathy for the victims of the blasts, the government of Nepal has also expressed its best wishes for their early recovery.

Ten blasts had rocked the Bodhgaya temple town on Sunday with the world famous Mahabodhi temple facing the brunt of the terror attack as four blasts took place on the premises of the shrine. Reports quoting Indian Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shindhe said on Monday that as many as 13 bombs were planted inside the temple complex of which ten had exploded injuring two monks.
