KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Man of the match Subash Khakurel’s ton and Basanta Regmi 5-wicket haul helped Nepal beat the United States by 32 runs in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 Cricket Tournament at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday.
United States were bowled out in 226 (48.2 over) chasing Nepal’s 259-run target. [break]
Nepal’s opener Khakurel, who batted almost throughout the innings, made 115 off 142 balls. His innings included 10 boundaries and two sixes.
Gyanendra Malla, who replaced retired hurt Anil Mandal, made an impressive 46 off 59 balls and skipper Paras Khadka cracked a brisk 34-ball 41 after Nepal won the toss and elected to bat.
Mandal (20) and Pradip Aire (14) also contributed well.
USA then got quick Nepali wickets as Nepali batsmen tried to accelerate the run scoring towards end of the innings.
United States were recovering well with top scorer Nadkarni (84 off 106 balls) and TP Allen (29 off 39 balls) partnership before Regmi took his second wicket as Allen.
Sanjam Regmi ended all hopes of the United States when he had Nadkarni as the sixth wicket.
Nepal had earlier defeated Singapore, Tanazania and Malaysia.
